tourists will also be subject to new cultures and traditions that they may not

during a vacation, tourists may not be aware that they are being scammed. Many
scammers use distraction techniques to pickpocket unsuspecting victims. These
are some of the most popular distraction scams to watch out for when traveling.

Street games: When visiting a large city, you may
find that there are a variety of artists on the street that you may see playing
different games or performing some sort of show. Many tourists stop and like to
watch the show for a few minutes to see what is going on. Scammers then take
this time to pickpocket tourists who are distracted with the performance that
they are watching.

Thrown baby: While you are sitting down on a
bench or admiring some sort of attraction, a woman may throw a baby wrapped in
a blanket at you. You will likely be startled and try to catch the baby. You
will then realize that the baby is just a doll, but by the time that you
realize this, the woman will have already stolen your wallet or other
valuables.

executed in a number of different ways. One version of the scam is when a
bystander will “accidently” spill ketchup or mustard on your jacket. They will
then apologize and help you try to clean it off. As they are helping you, their
partner will pickpocket you.
